2023 Art Reflection

The year is in its final quarter and I think now is the best time for me to reflect on my art progress.

For the past couple of months, I’ve been working with multiple mediums to see what sticks and sparks the most joy in my creative process and so far oil, Pen and ink, and digital seem to be the most intriguing.

I dont know what to say about my art. I use a lot of references while incorporating my own style. The painter side of my personality isn’t as strong as my writing side, so there’s much I can’t explain when it comes to art versus writing. I just paint or draw to keep myself from having mental breakdowns.

Going back to reflecting, I suppose me being in a calm state is what I got most out of this journey this year. The prior years I was bent up about not being as perfect as artist who’ve been in the field for decades. This year I told myself to create what makes me happy while eliminating the mediums that frustrated me.

Accrylic dries way to fast. I use oil pastels, but I’m starting to reconsider my usage of them. At first I enjoyed watercolors, but I mostly use them for street sketching.

Two more weeks until my third trimester. I’m going to try to create as much as possible since it also help me keep my mind off worrisome thoughts. I’m happy with the art I made this year. I see some growth and I can’t wait to see what else will be completed. Hopefully my first manga and novel
