To make a long post short, I use a spare phone where it holds all of my social media accounts and an online publishing tool. Once I create and schedule my content, I’ve done my job lol.
Recently, I rejoined Tiktok with a brand new perspective on how to manage my account and connect with other writers. Granted, I still can’t post my links in my bio, but *shrug*, it is what it is. I’m happy to be reconnecting with other creatives and see their projects in development. The new perspective; take everything online with a grain of salt. Especially negative comments. There’s a lot of anger residing on the internet these days and if I could cut my comments to where only mutuals can chat with me, I’d set it.
It sucks to have lost the social media of yesteryear and sometimes I wonder if how it is today was caused by our own doing as users. Seeing how bullying and harassment has been incentivized, quick change for online discourse is easier to obtain rather than hard work on a passion.
I was taught as a writer to use social media to connect with readers and others in my field for deep discussions. Unfortunately, that comes with the risk of being emotionally manipulated by the algorithm or targeted.
Our beloved sites are now means of distribution and a quick hit of dopamine. For someone working in an isolating field, tread mindfully and use tools like automatic publishing for the sake of your mental health.
