Your Likeness

I was walking home through Town Square the other night, when I stopped in my tracks. A billboard of an advertisement caught my attention and as I gaped at the image of the model holding skin care cream, I felt my heart skin into my stomach. The female model was me! Well…she looked like me. Where my head was long and narrow, her head was round. My eyes were the shape of almonds and brown. Her eyes were as wide as walnuts and had a slight lighter shade as if a glossy film was laid over them. But they were still brown. Although the differences were small, I still knew it was me. I had this familiar sense it was my image as if I was looking into one of those circus fun house mirrors.

I saw the model again in a magazine, she was smiling. I nearly dropped the book in shock once I saw she had the exact same smile as myself. We both had large front teeth with a gap.

“So you’ve finally met your doppelganger.” My friend said when I showed her the advertisement. “I saw mine online. Your likeness can now be used for anything.”

“What?” I began to stammer. “B-but this is me. They cant use my face and get paid for it.”

“But it’s not really your face. If you dont like it then dont take pictures with filters.”
